摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)滑(hua)移(yi)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)是開(kai)發應(ying)用(yong)較(jiao)早的(de)(de)(de)(de)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)振技術(shu)之一，所用(yong)的(de)(de)(de)(de)摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)材(cai)料多為(wei)沙石(shi)、石(shi)墨等(deng)(deng)廉(lian)價材(cai)料，標記經濟且簡(jian)(jian)單易(yi)(yi)行。摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)滑(hua)移(yi)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)系統(tong)通常有隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)離地(di)震(zhen)作用(yong)的(de)(de)(de)(de)摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)滑(hua)動(dong)機構和限位(wei)復(fu)位(wei)的(de)(de)(de)(de)阻(zu)尼向心機構組成，多為(wei)平(ping)面(mian)滑(hua)移(yi)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)系統(tong)。該系統(tong)不能(neng)自動(dong)復(fu)位(wei)，一般需(xu)要另外加設復(fu)位(wei)裝(zhuang)置(zhi)，且滑(hua)動(dong)性能(neng)離散(san)性大、不易(yi)(yi)控制，滑(hua)移(yi)量(liang)過(guo)大可能(neng)導致穿越(yue)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)層的(de)(de)(de)(de)非結構構件破(po)壞，甚(shen)至可能(neng)發生滑(hua)移(yi)失穩(wen)，這極(ji)大地(di)阻(zu)礙了滑(hua)移(yi)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)的(de)(de)(de)(de)發展。為(wei)了解決平(ping)面(mian)滑(hua)移(yi)系統(tong)不能(neng)自動(dong)復(fu)位(wei)問題，Zayas等(deng)(deng)于(yu)1985年(nian)在美國加州(zhou)大學伯克利分校(xiao)研發了摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)擺(bai)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)裝(zhuang)置(zhi)，稱(cheng)之為(wei)摩(mo)(mo)擦(ca)擺(bai)系統(tong)/支(zhi)座(Friction Pendilum System/Bearing,簡(jian)(jian)稱(cheng)FPS/FPB)。該裝(zhuang)置(zhi)不僅具有平(ping)面(mian)滑(hua)移(yi)隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)裝(zhuang)置(zhi)的(de)(de)(de)(de)對(dui)地(di)震(zhen)激勵頻率范圍的(de)(de)(de)(de)低敏感性和高穩(wen)定性，特(te)有的(de)(de)(de)(de)圓弧(hu)滑(hua)動(dong)面(mian)還使其具有復(fu)位(wei)功能(neng)，無需(xu)附設阻(zu)尼向心機構，故而在實際應(ying)用(yong)中(zhong)更為(wei)簡(jian)(jian)便(bian)，且增加了隔(ge)(ge)(ge)(ge)震(zhen)裝(zhuang)置(zhi)的(de)(de)(de)(de)可靠度(du)。
摩擦(ca)(ca)擺隔震(zhen)支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)是將傳統的(de)平面(mian)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)移(yi)隔震(zhen)裝置(zhi)的(de)摩擦(ca)(ca)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)移(yi)面(mian)由平面(mian)改為球面(mian)，從而可依靠自(zi)身重力(li)自(zi)動(dong)(dong)(dong)回(hui)復。該支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)主要由上(shang)、下(xia)支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)板(ban)和一個鉸(jiao)接(jie)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)塊(kuai)組(zu)成(cheng)。摩擦(ca)(ca)擺隔震(zhen)支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)嵌在(zai)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)容腔中的(de)鉸(jiao)接(jie)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)塊(kuai)與(yu)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)面(mian)具(ju)有相同的(de)曲(qu)率半徑，可與(yu)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)面(mian)完全貼(tie)合，并使(shi)上(shang)支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)在(zai)支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)時始終保持水平。滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)面(mian)上(shang)涂有低摩擦(ca)(ca)材料，如聚四氟乙烯（特氟龍）等，可在(zai)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)過程(cheng)中耗(hao)散能量。當滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)界面(mian)受(shou)到的(de)地(di)震(zhen)作用超(chao)過靜摩擦(ca)(ca)力(li)時，地(di)面(mian)水平運(yun)動(dong)(dong)(dong)會促使(shi)滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)在(zai)其圓(yuan)弧面(mian)內滑(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)(hua)動(dong)(dong)(dong)，從而迫使(shi)上(shang)部結構輕微抬高(gao)，發生單擺運(yun)動(dong)(dong)(dong)。然后(hou)，支(zhi)座(zuo)(zuo)會在(zai)自(zi)身受(shou)到的(de)豎向荷載作用下(xia)自(zi)動(dong)(dong)(dong)回(hui)復。
摩擦(ca)擺(bai)隔震(zhen)(zhen)支座(zuo)的(de)水平力(li)(li)為滑動面(mian)摩擦(ca)力(li)(li)和上部結構沿滑道上升產生的(de)恢(hui)復(fu)力(li)(li)的(de)合(he)力(li)(li)，而(er)提供的(de)恢(hui)復(fu)力(li)(li)使支座(zuo)能依靠其(qi)承(cheng)受的(de)重力(li)(li)自(zi)(zi)動往中心(xin)位(wei)置回復(fu)，使地震(zhen)(zhen)響應得到控制(zhi)，并(bing)且該支座(zuo)的(de)剛度(du)中心(xin)有自(zi)(zi)動與隔震(zhen)(zhen)結構的(de)質心(xin)重合(he)的(de)趨勢，因而(er)能在更大 程度(du)上消(xiao)除結構的(de)扭轉運動。摩擦(ca)擺(bai)隔震(zhen)(zhen)支座(zuo)的(de)周期(qi)、豎向承(cheng)載力(li)(li)、阻尼比、側(ce)重位(wei)移和抗拉力(li)(li)等指(zhi)標可(ke)以進行(xing)(xing)單獨控制(zhi)，該特(te)性十(shi)分便于設(she)計人員對(dui)隔震(zhen)(zhen)系統(tong)進行(xing)(xing)優化(hua)設(she)計。
